Catie Cuan is a roboticist and choreographer. She is currently a final year PhD Candidate in Mechanical Engineering at Stanford University and the Inaugural Artist-in-Residence at Everyday Robots. She uses imitation learning to teach robots new tasks in human-friendly environments. Her dance background influences her interfaces and methods, situating her work into a growing interdisciplinary field known as “choreorobotics”.

Her current research is supported by X (formerly Google X) and the National Institutes of Health. Catie’s artistic work has been shown nationally and internationally; she was an Artist-in-Residence at the Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building, ThoughtWorks Arts, and TED.

Catie received an MS in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University and a BS with high honors from the University of California, Berkeley.
